Rev Up for Reading Summer Day Camp

That's a wrap! We've enjoyed two days filled with continuous fun and laughter at Red Bird Christian School (RBCS) during our Rev Up for Reading & Jesus Day Camp! Held on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 29th and 30th, the camp welcomed 24 energetic students from grades K–6, providing a faith-filled and fun head start to the new school year.
On Day One, the energy was contagious as we began our day with songs and praise, led by our very own Mrs. Wilder, RBCS Principal. Her uplifting spirit set the perfect tone for everything that followed! Students then dove into their age group activities, from fun reading games to hands-on crafts and creative learning tasks. One of the highlights? A delicious stop in the STEAM Lab, where grades 2, 3, and 4 whipped up banana cream pie s’mores—yum! Afternoon adventures brought even more excitement, with some students heading outdoors for a sunny scavenger hunt and reading walk, while others enjoyed engaging reading games in the computer lab.
Reuniting for more fun and learning, students arrived bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on Day 2! From dynamic games to faith-centered crafts and activities, the kids continued to grow in their reading skills and their understanding of Jesus' teachings. This camp isn’t just about reading—it’s about giving our students a chance to step into the school year with confidence, stronger skills, and a deeper connection to their faith.
To our dedicated staff who made sure every moment at camp was packed with meaning and love—a sincere thank you!
Volunteers Inspire More Good Works for Red Bird

Three talented ladies—Donna, Eileen, and Nancy—gather every Monday at the Cape Coral Lake Kennedy Senior Center in Florida to craft beautiful handmade greeting cards. Their passion for creativity and community has always been evident, but recently, they took that generosity a step further.
When Karen and Joyce, friends of the trio representing Sanibel Island Community Church, shared stories about their mission trip to Red Bird Mission in April, Donna, Eileen, and Nancy couldn’t help but feel inspired. Karen and Joyce spoke of the incredible work being done—construction projects to support families in need, the vital resources of a food bank, the community store, Cardinal Café and school that serve as pillars of the community in Appalachia.
Moved by the impact of Red Bird Mission, these three women knew they wanted to contribute in their own special way. United by their faith and creativity, they made the beautiful decision to donate over 250 of their handmade greeting cards to the Red Bird Mission Cardinal Café & Crafts Center — an offering of time, talent, and treasure, all with the hope of uplifting and supporting Red Bird Mission’s work. These greeting cards, handcrafted with care and love, will serve not only as items in the store but also as symbols of faith and goodwill.
These three ladies remind us that kindness truly knows no bounds. Whether through fundraising, volunteering, or a simple, meaningful gesture like crafting something with love, each of us has the ability to make a difference.
Let their example inspire you to consider your own "good works," as we support each other in building stronger, more compassionate communities, one small act of kindness at a time.
"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." – Ephesians 2:10

More good works arrived at Red Bird Mission Community Outreach on Monday. The Prayer Shawl Ministry at New Providence Church, Fayetteville, GA is being the "hands and feet of Christ." Members of the church have also participated in Work Camp at Red Bird Mission and shared about the diverse needs.
These ladies donated their time, materials and hearts for the Elderly Ministries program within Community Outreach. Fifteen flannel lap warmers were given crocheted-trimmed edges and embroidered with scriptural reminders of God's love.

Paul Givens made the trek from Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Wednesday to resupply Community Outreach food pantries with 144 food boxes. The St. Mark’s United Methodist Church mission team purchases food and assembles the boxes for delivery throughout the year. Shoes were also included in the delivery that will be distributed through Red Bird Christmas Assistance programs.
