The Art of Bible Puppetry

Sparks Imagination Adding

the Element of Excitement During

"Read Across America" Week

at Red Bird Christian School

Lets take a dive into

the amazing world of puppetry

with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego!

Every day of "Read Across America" bursts with excitement as biblical characters come to life, vividly portraying significant events, parables, and of course lessons in reading! The Elementary audience discover the meaning of homophones with visual examples such as "paws" and "pause," for every show.

Organized and led by Elementary Bible teacher Rebecca Smallwood, this creative storytelling method not only enlivens the scriptures but also connects with young audiences, enhancing their comprehension of Biblical teachings.

But wait, there's more! These puppets sing and dance alongside of Choir Instructor, Mark Smallwood! He and Mrs. Smallwood are credited with this puppet production of song, education and entertainment, but who are the talented hands bringing these puppets to life?

Recognized for their vibrant personalities and distinctive voice impressions, are none other than Red Bird Christian School's 5th and 6th grade Bible Students! Their talent and preparation resulted in a successful and entertaining show for "Read Across America" week at RBCS!

Green Eggs and Ham

"I do not like green eggs and ham.

I do not like them,

Sam-I-Am.”

The Red Bird Mission Early
Childhood Development Program
are full of spirit and dressed to impress as they join in
"Read Across America" week,
highlighting their favorite
Dr. Suess books!

Books play a significant role in the Early Childhood Development Program (ECD) preschool classroom and reading is crucial for early childhood development.

Exciting activities aligned with the week's theme have kept these kids engaged throughout the week! "The Cat and the Hat" inspired an exciting project for preschoolers to create their very own "Cat and the Hat" puppet!

These energetic 3 and 4-year-olds also had an absolute blast diving into "Hop on Pop" by Dr. Seuss and engaging in interactive play with balloons and a spelling lesson on identifying their name as they searched for the balloon with it!

In the ECD Classroom, a treasured tradition brought the beloved story

to life by making and eating "green eggs and ham," just as depicted

in the book by Dr. Seuss.

This creative culinary experience has always been

a yearly tradition for over three decades!

The green eggs and ham
were quite the surprise!
Some preschoolers were brave enough to give this storybook snack a whirl, while others politely declined and stuck to their fruit snacks.

Spotlight Of The Week!

Whether its a teacher at Red Bird Christian School, a volunteer at the Outreach, or a member of the Work Camp, Red Bird is full of wonderful people who deserve recognition for their giving hearts, colorful personalities and the incredible work they do to serve others.

For "Spotlight of the Week," I want to feature one person from each and every department of Red Bird Mission. I'm eager to hear from the readers about whom you'd like to see highlighted in the "Spotlight of the Week" segment.

Each week I will choose an employee, staff member or volunteer from all departments and readers may vote!

We get the exciting opportunity to dive into the lives of people,

read their story and learn all about their Red Bird Mission journey!
