Hi, I’m Kayla,
part-time storyteller,
full-time Gifts and Media Specialist
here at Red Bird Mission.
I'm usually busy capturing community events and stories, but today, were going to talk about something that's quietly lurking in the background of our online lives:
cyber threats.
Let’s be real—getting hacked is one of the few nightmares that can happen while you’re wide awake. One minute you’re buying coffee, and the next, your bank account is drained because some cyber-criminal decided to have a little fun. It’s almost like digital pickpocketing has become an Olympic sport these days.
With cyber threats becoming
a bigger deal every year,
the need for smart,
skilled cybersecurity experts
has never been
more urgent.
This isn’t just about stopping spam emails
or remembering not to click on
“You’ve Won $1,000!” links anymore;
it’s about protecting everything from your savings to
national security.
Cybersecurity careers are taking off for a reason,
and let’s just say they’re in high demand.
This topic brings me
to the highlight of the week:
Greg Schloemer’s visit to Red Bird Christian School
Greg, a Senior Threat Intel Analyst at Microsoft and co-founder of KC7,
introduced our Civil Air Patrol cadets and High School Technology students
to the exciting world of cybersecurity.
KC7’s cybersecurity platform is a total game-changer for students, especially for our tech-savvy Technology students and Civil Air Patrol cadets.

It’s not just about learning to code—
it equips them with critical skills in hacking (the legal kind!),
digital problem-solving, and online security.

For Civil Air Patrol students
aiming to lead missions or respond to emergencies,
understanding how to safeguard data in a digital-first world is
huge.
And for Technology students,
KC7 opens doors to hands-on experiences
in one of the fastest-growing industries out there.
It’s like planting seeds for careers
that are not just future-proof but also genuinely
exciting.

Students didn’t hold back,
diving right into coding challenges and
even tracing hackers!
When Greg told them it’s okay to be curious and ask questions,
they took it to heart.
He later shared that this was his third time visiting schools to talk about KC7,
and no one has asked more questions than our Red Bird kids.

That speaks volumes about their interest and learning!
Greg even mentioned how smart our students are
(we’re blushing just a little)!

Huge thanks to Greg and KC7 for inspiring our students
and giving them the tools to reach for careers that are
challenging, rewarding, and cutting-edge.
Who knows?
You might just hear about a Red Bird alumni
catching the next big cybercriminal.
